About Us

DisabilityAlert was inspired by the life experiences of Robert Mercer, born nearly blind in Nova Scotia, Canada. Nine years at the Halifax School for the Blind, as well described in his book titled Mrs. Beaton's Question (print and audio book available on Amazon), shaped his understanding of disability and the importance of awareness and inclusion. The challenges he faced growing up with a visual impairment motivated him to find ways to promote greater understanding and support for people with disabilities in everyday life.
